Does your tender process get you the results you want? Do you have trouble with vendors responded to your requests? Just because it's a contract or a quotation doesn't mean it has to be a sterile transaction. As the representatives of the corporation, board members and managers can gain better results for the corporation by managing the relationships.

Key Discussion Points:

  • When do you use an RFQ (Request for Quotation) vs. an RFP (Request for Proposals)?
  • When does a proposal require a regulated contract administrator (a CCDC regulated project)?
  • Strategies for cost control.
  • How do you entice vendors and contractors to want to do work for your community?
  • Turn potentially adversarial scenarios into collaborative relationships.

Speaker: Dustin Gutsche

Dustin was born in Calgary but raised in several towns across the prairies - wherever the oil and gas industry took his family. As an adult, Dustin came back to Alberta and took up a career in education, followed by a stint in surveying. Holding degrees in education and geomatics engineering, Dustin has always had a passion for learning and teaching to this day. After working for another company, Dustin founded his own condominium management company in 2023. Dustin is an active director of society boards including the Association of Condominium Managers of Alberta, the Condo Owners' Forum and the Canadian Condominium Institute South Alberta Chapter. Dustin spends most long weekends in the public land use zones camping and is the owner of one goofy dog and one very antagonistic cat.
